Susan Payetta

Born and raised in Port Arthur before it was called Thunder Bay, Susan is a long-time member of NOWW (Northwestern Ontario Writers' Workshop) and enjoys attending the annual Sleeping Giant Writers' Festival.

Following her retirement from the foodservice equipment industry, Susan spends as much time at her home on Carriacou in the West Indies as circumstances will allow.

She has contributed several articles to Caribbean Compass and Classic Boat about traditional wooden sloops built and launched on the beaches of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. In 2009, Susan began working with Carriacou historian, Edward Kent, editing his memoirs and recording further oral histories. In 2011 Susan formed Sail Rock Publishing to facilitate publication of Up Before Dawn by Edward Kent.

As a member of the Carriacou Historical Society, Susan regularly contributes news briefs to the museum's website and served as editor of a magazine published to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of CHS in 2016.

The Flying Falcones is Susan's first novel.
