Susan Payetta

Born and raised in Port Arthur before it was called Thunder Bay, Susan is a long-time member of NOWW (Northwestern Ontario Writers' Workshop) and enjoys attending the annual Sleeping Giant Writers' Festival.

 

Susan has contributed several articles to Caribbean Compass and Classic Boat about traditional wooden sloops built and launched on the beaches of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. In 2009, she began working with Carriacou historian, Edward Kent, editing his memoirs and recording further oral histories. In 2011, Susan opened Sail Rock Publishing to facilitate the publication of Up Before Dawn by Edward Kent.

As a member of the Carriacou Historical Society, Susan regularly contributes news briefs to the museum's website and serves as editor of its semi-annual newsletter. She was editor of the Society's commemorative magazine marking its 40th anniversary in 2016.

The Flying Falcones is Susan's first novel.
